Software GUI Developer (.NET)

Location: Adelaide

Energy Exemplar is a leading provider of electric power market simulation software with a significant worldwide customer base. We are seeking a confident, self-motivated and professional person in the role of Software Developer (.NET).

Position is permanent, full time employment subject to standard probation period.

The Role:

Coordinate with the development team and CTO on design concepts and software project planning.

Develop using Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 on Visual Studio 2010:

  • User interface components in Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF)
  • Data processing components in Language Integrated Query (LINQ)
  • Communications components using Windows Communications Foundation (WCF) transferring data between a DBMS and WPF user interface

Qualifications and Experience

The successful applicant will have:

  • University degree in a scientific, business, computing, or technical area
  • Minimum of 2 years commercial experience developing multi-threaded GUI applications using VB.NET and/or C#
  • Must have experience developing with WPF and LINQ .NET technologies
  • Proven track record in delivering and maintaining real world software applications
  • Experience in deployment, configuration and support of new systems
  • Experience with MySQL, SQL Server and/or other DBMS
  • Experience with 3rd party .NET components

Other desirable skills:

  • Knowledge of electric power markets
  • Experience with Client/Server applications
  • Graphic design capabilities

Simulation-ready Dataset Developer

Location: Roseville, CA

This position will report directly to the Regional Director, and will develop fundamental, regional PLEXOS® input datasets that are calibrated and ready for client simulation use.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Develop and document transmission, generation, fuel, and emission data.
  • Set up and utilize PLEXOS® simulation model and calibrate to historical energy prices, fuel burn, and major interface flows.
  • Provide annual database releases (WECC, ERCOT, and EI) with associated documentation to subscription clients.
  • Become market expert for assigned N. American ISOs regarding price derivation, resource mix, and major transmission constraints.
  • Interact on a frequent basis with clients for implementation.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Economics, Math, or similar field.
  • Graduated in top 25 percent of class.
  • Highly numerate with exemplary computer and analytical skills. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Access, SQL server, MySQL or other DBMS software.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years experience with:
    • ISO data development.
    • Advanced chronological simulation software.
    • DC-OPF transmission modeling.
    • Locational Marginal Price (LMP) energy forecasting in US markets.
    • Optimal unit commitment / dispatch algorithms.

Simulation-ready Dataset Developer

Location: London, UK

Energy Exemplar is the leading provider of power market simulation software with a significant presence in the European markets. We are seeking a confident, self-motivated and professional person in the role of data analyst in our London office.

The company has consistently grown its client base and the successful candidate will have many opportunities to influence business growth and advance in market analytics and knowledge of the energy sector.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Research, compile, verify and analyse European power market data for purpose of accurate power market modelling and simulations.
  • Track power market data sources, and create and maintain databases in required formats.
  • Learn PLEXOS software to an advanced level.
  • Build, calibrate and maintain accurate simulation ready datasets for EU 27 power markets and others as required.
  • Annual Dataset releases.
  • Assist customers during and post implementation of the datasets.
  • Prepare documentation and training material and maintain to assist in comprehension and delivery of power market datasets and models.

Requirements

Highly numerate with exemplary computer and analytical skills. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, SQL server, MySQL or other DBMS software.

A tertiary degree in Applied Mathematics, Engineering, Energy Economics or Operations Research will be favoured, but others will be considered (Physics, Economics, Management Science or similar). Postgraduate qualification an advantage.

3-5 years experience in power market modelling/analysis with firm understanding of energy economics and market fundamentals.

Multilingual in European languages will be an advantage.

Previous experience with PLEXOS® or similar simulation tool will be an advantage.

Prepared to travel to European sites where necessary.

Power System Engineer

Location: Roseville, CA

This position will directly report to the Vice President, Technical Services, and will develop regional PLEXOS input datasets, nodal price forecasts, perform short and long term resource portfolio optimization and valuation, and conduct detailed wind integration analyses. The salary range is commensurate with experience.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Develop and document generation, transmission, and system data.
  • Set up and utilize PLEXOS simulation model for various advanced analytical tasks.
  • Design and process PLEXOS output data for reports, tables, and graphs to be provided to clients or stakeholders.
  • Document input assumptions, analytical process, output results, and conclusions if applicable.
  • Frequent interaction with clients at technical level.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Power Systems Engineering.
  • Graduated in top 25 percent of class.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience with:
  • Advanced chronological simulation software.
  • DC-OPF transmission modeling.

Personal Assistant

Location: Roseville, CA

This position will directly report to the Regional Director, North America.  The primary responsibility of this position is to enable the management to be more effective in achieving their performance standards and goals.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Gather relevant information from company technical personnel and develop accurate, precise, and advantageous responses to all marketing and sales opportunities.
  • Become an expert in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system utilized by the company and be responsible for capturing all relevant contact and sales information in it.
  • Prepare and provide to management accurate, current, and regular reporting on sales prospects and associated summaries.
  • Prepare comprehensive travel itineraries for management.
  • Research relevant and potential customer contacts and record in CRM system.
  • Be responsible for user group or training meeting logistics.
  • Interact frequently with clients and respond to their requests.

Desired Qualifications:

  • College degree or a minimum of two years of college
  • GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Excellent written and oral English skills
