In this presentation, Bonnie Chan will discuss the IESOs response to Ontario’s Ministry of Energy’s directive that the IESO evaluate a moratorium on the procurement of new natural gas generating stations and develop an achievable pathway to phase out natural gas generation and achieve zero emissions in the electricity sector. The IESO is currently working on a study that will explore what that could mean for the future of Ontario’s electricity system and this presentation will highlight how PLEXOS’ Capacity Expansion Model is being used in the study.
