Evaluating a Distributed Energy Future for Puerto Rico

Telos Energy used PLEXOS to generate models and observe the necessary methods to achieve 50% renewable energy by 2035 in Puerto Rico. They observed the impact of adding DER to provide energy and grid services while retiring older fossil fuel resources. Their model showed that as DER increases, more fossil fuel resources can be retired.

While the year-over-year trends are important, Telos also recognizes the importance of daily and hourly models to understand grid operations and reliability. PLEXOS provided Telos Energy with the necessary modeling parameters to observe grid operations to achieve 50% renewable energy in Puerto Rico with an iterative approach.
