Locational Marginal Pricing Analysis in the Baltic States

Baltic transmissions system operators AS Augstsprieguma tikls (Latvia) and Litgrid (Lithuania) performed a common study of locational marginal pricing analysis as required within the European Bidding Zone review process. The market simulation results were used together with network analysis to identify grid bottlenecks and contingencies. Energy Exemplar’s PLEXOS market modelling tool allowed the Baltic TSOs to comply with all requirements of the Bidding Zone review process, allocating minimal resources for post-processing data. A common market model used by all Baltic TSOs enabled full cooperation and timely project implementation.
