Trainers
PLEXOS Gas & Hydrogen Training
Introducing the Gas & Hydrogen Training Program
The PLEXOS Gas training track will focus on all things gas related, starting off with the basics of using PLEXOS which is tailored to those primarily modelling gas problems. The goal through the first day will be to ensure that those attending get accustomed to the basic usage. The 2nd day will be focused on diving deeper into exercises and recapping day 1. We will also dive into Constraints, Stochastic Modelling, and Modelling Gas Topology.
Key Takeaways:
-Learn about the PLEXOS workflow and structure focused on PLEXOS Gas
-Be able to understand System Modelling of the gas module
-Build models as you go through each learning session
-Go through the hands-on exercises
-Understand Scenario-based analysis and simulation phases
-Delve into constrain modelling and decomposition for the gas modules
-Explore Modeling uncertainty in PLEXOS
-Learn about basin, zones, and transport, plus capacity release offer and DSM Program.

9:00 am - 10:30 am
PLEXOS Certification Training for beginners
Adding Markets & Constraints
Everything from Energy, Capacity, to Ancillary Services Markets play a crucial role in determining how system settlements occur.
We explore a host of markets represented in PLEXOS and learn how to describe them. Along with Markets, custom constraints can be used to represent any number of policies, goals, and non-economic positions required for modelling the actual power sector.
Trainer
PLEXOS Intermediate/Advanced Training
Cloud
By working through an automation example using PLEXOS cloud, we aim to demonstrate how participants might go about implementing automatization processes in their own workflow.
Trainer
PLEXOS Gas & Hydrogen Training
Day 1 Exercises and Learning Consolidation
This session will feature a recap of exercises from Day 1 and a consolidation of the key takeaways and learning objectives
Trainer
10:30 am - 11:00 am
Morning Coffee Break
11:00 am - 12:30 pm
PLEXOS Certification Training for beginners
Heat Rates, Ancillary Services
PLEXOS allows the user to fine tune the system using value-based modelling techniques. Heat rates are used as an example of how to build highly efficient models and how to combine the power of the Excel work environment with PLEXOS to maximize productivity.
Trainer
PLEXOS Intermediate/Advanced Training
LT Model Calibration
In this session we examine the trade-off between performance and precision when modelling the Long Term. In addition to this, we look at how to think about LT-ST convergence.
Trainer
PLEXOS Gas & Hydrogen Training
Constraint Modelling and Decomposition
We will delve into constraint modelling and decomposition for the gas modules. This session will feature live hands on exercises on using in built constraints as well as customizable constraints
Trainer
12:30 pm - 1:30 pm
Networking Lunch
1:30 pm - 3:00 pm
PLEXOS Certification Training for beginners
System Adequacy
Systems are prone to breakdowns and require maintenance. We explore system maintenance and random outages and how they affect the reliability of our system.
Trainer
PLEXOS Intermediate/Advanced Training
Opportunity Costs
To model hydro accurately it is important to consider the opportunity cost of water. During this session we explain how water values, Stochastic Dual Dynamic Programming and rolling horizons work in PLEXOS.
Trainers
PLEXOS Gas & Hydrogen Training
Coping with Uncertainty-Stochastic Modelling
We will explore modelling uncertainty in PLEXOS. This session will focus on building deterministic scenarios, Monte Carlo Simulations and Stochastic Optimization in the Gas Module.

Medium Term Modelling - Intro to LT Plan
It is impossible to consider every aspect of a system of any meaningful size over the medium term when operating in real-time. The MT Schedule solves this problem by optimizing medium term objectives and passing them to the ST Schedule.
