What's New - March 2026
Energy decisions are becoming more complex, timelines are tightening, and expectations for transparency are increasing. This February 2026 release...
Energy systems are growing more complex, decision windows are getting shorter, and the pressure to show your work has never been higher. We delivered significant updates across PLEXOS®, the PLEXOS® Platform and its fast-expanding AI capabilities, PLEXOS® Pulse, Adapt2, Aurora, and our Simulation Ready Datasets. Every update is built for the same purpose: help you model faster, decide with more confidence, and get from question to answer in less time.
Here's what's new.
PLEXOS® is a unified platform for energy decision-making, built around the PLEXOS® engine at its core. It supports planning, portfolio, and operations in one cloud-enabled environment designed for collaboration and scale, and this release continues our long-running investment in making that core engine the most accurate and capable in the market.
PLEXOS® 12 (R04) is an incremental release in the PLEXOS® 12 series: upgraded to Gurobi 13, deeper Cloud integration and more accurate modeling of increasingly complex energy systems, so your studies keep pace with a changing grid. It is available today to download from the via the Customer Portal and PLEXOS® Marketplace, ready for every customer to adopt on your own schedule, and able to run headless, through the Desktop UI, PLEXOS® Connect or PLEXOS® Cloud. Like every release, R04 was shaped by close collaboration with subject-matter experts across the energy industry, so new capabilities solve the problems teams face day to day.
Behind the version number are thousands of updates across the past year — stability and reporting fixes alongside hundreds of engine enhancements. The highlights group into four areas:
Universal transport logic, pipeline constraints and gas plant controls
Expanded emissions reporting
Combined Heat and Power (CHP) reserve contribution and backpressure modeling
Congestion analytics for complex networks
Improved congestion-attribution reporting on PTDF and LODF.
Better interoperability with AC Power Flow (ACPF) models, plus Kron reduction (KRON) enhancements
State-of-charge (SoC) targets for storage
Battery build-duration and aggregation optimization
Degradation modeling and improved maintenance logic
Loss of Load Probability (LOLP) target improvements, seasonal reserve margin targets, partial builds
Effective Load Carrying Capability (ELCC) / Effective Firm Capacity (EFC) accreditation and decomposition
Solver and matrix-density optimization for faster runs

PLEXOS® 10 reaches end of support in November 2026. Planning your upgrade now keeps you on the latest solver and full support, and extended support or modeling services can bridge the gap. Talk to your account team to map out a plan.
Customers need to upgrade to Connect 3.6 to continue receiving standard support, maintenance updates, and security updates. Please contact Energy Exemplar Support or your Customer Success Manager for migration assistance.
The PLEXOS® Platform brings simulation, collaboration, automation, and embedded AI into one environment, so teams can standardize workflows, reduce friction, and scale modeling across projects and stakeholders. Those AI capabilities come together as PLEXOS® Intelligence, and they took a significant step forward, all running on the infrastructure you already use, with no migration required.
Agent Factory lets you scale modeling expertise by turning PLEXOS® studies into reusable AI agents, Pulse Agents, that analyze output far faster than manual review. Over the last few weeks, it has evolved from basic Q&A to guided, study-aware analytical workflows, and is now in customer beta with over 10 active customers who have provided strong feedback on dashboarding, comparison, and visualization.
Ready-to-run analytical Skills for common analysis tasks
Study-aware Structured Query Language (SQL) generation for reliable, grounded answers
Upload reference documents and domain context to tailor responses
Enhanced dashboards, charts, and document analysis

Our newest Pulse product brings continental European gas markets into a single, interactive view. We've layered AI capabilities directly on top of the dataset, so instead of navigating complex model outputs manually, you can query in plain language and get results in seconds. Supply/demand balances, scenario modelling, and sensitivity analysis; work that used to take a full day now takes a prompt.
It’s designed for analysts and traders who need a fundamental picture of the market without standing up their own model, and it’s available to explore today with a free trial.
Continental Europe coverage in one market view
Month-ahead to 30-year horizon, plan both near-term and long-term
Price forecasts, demand by country, gas balance, pipelines, and storage

Ask questions. Go deeper. Explore results in natural language to investigate scenarios and receive recommendations that guide further analysis.
Understand the key drivers and why. See the factors shaping outcomes, revealing what’s really behind prices, congestion, and system behavior.
Machine-learning forecasts are everywhere, quick to build, but they only extrapolate from past data. Fundamental modeling goes deeper: it models cause and effect across live and historical data, cross-border flows, and complex capacity mechanisms. It’s harder to do, and that’s the point. PLEXOS® gives you the engine and the depth to make fundamentals your advantage.
Adapt2 supports participation in modern energy markets by reducing operational friction across ISO participation, settlements, tagging, and renewable certificate management, connecting front-, mid-, and back-office teams through integrated workflows.
Version 5.3 keeps Adapt2 aligned with evolving market structures, registry protocols, and ISO requirements, with a strong focus this cycle on faster tagging and broader market coverage.
New web-based eTag app for faster, browser-based transaction tagging
NYISO BUD market change complete
5.3.1 patch adds the PJM Outage Scheduler plus further enhancements

Aurora ships a new major version every year, shaped directly by customer ideas. The updates span four areas:
Enhanced wheeling cost modeling for more granular inputs
Storage spill handling for realistic storage behavior
Multi-segment ancillary services for granular reserve bids
Partial build in long-term studies, plus control-min shaping
One-click merge of Reserve Margin Target (RMT) records into the Resource Table
Parameter set for final dispatch after long-term studies
Additional output reporting for more visibility
Auto-download and combine cloud outputs after a run
