European power markets are more volatile and less predictable than ever before.
Renewables, extreme weather, fuel shocks, Dunkelflaute and regulatory change have created new market dynamics that are harder to predict; especially when models rely on historical price behavior through machine learning or statistics. In volatile conditions, forecast blind spots can materially impact short-term positions, risk exposure and ultimately PnL.
PLEXOS® Pulse delivers daily, short-term (D+1 to D+14) market forecasts for Great Britain (GB) and Germany (DE) built on a fully calibrated fundamental PLEXOS® model and accessed through a simple AI interface.
What it means: traders get access to a daily updated fundamental view of the market, grounded in generation, constraints, and cross-border flows, without building or maintaining a model themselves.
You subscribe, log in, and start asking questions leveraging our AI Market Expert to query data, and build bespoke dashboards that fit directly into your trading workflow. Built on the PLEXOS® engine trusted by energy market participants worldwide.

How It Works
Each morning, a calibrated PLEXOS® fundamental model is run for Great Britain and Germany using updated assumptions, including fuel curves, outages, demand forecasts and renewable forecasts. The resulting short-term price forecasts are published directly into PLEXOS® Pulse accompanied by the full underlying fundamental model.
Subscribers log in and interact with the forecasts through the AI Market Expert. The AI Market Expert returns structured data and clear explanations, tied to the underlying model. Traders can pull results into custom dashboards and integrate them directly into short-term trading workflows.
Ask The AI Market Expert Questions Like:
-
"Plot hourly price forecasts for Germany for D+1 to D+3, compare the base case to a high wind scenario.”
-
“Plot hourly interconnector flows for all lines for GB for the next two weeks.”
-
“Show all scenarios for wind generation for tomorrow.”
-
“Plot the expected daily revenue for my unit under all 25 scenarios.”
The Fundamental Difference
Many short-term power price forecasts rely on statistical or machine learning models trained on historical price behavior. These models can perform well in stable conditions. But when renewables fluctuate, fuel markets spike or when differing assets start setting the price in your region - historical patterns often break down. PLEXOS® Pulse takes a fundamental approach. Instead of extrapolating past prices, it simulates how the market clears, based on:
Unit-level Granularity
Modeling 1000s of individual units and their corresponding techno-economic parameters.
Latest Available Data
Latest available data and renewable forecasts: Scraping, cleaning and transforming millions of rows worth of REMIT messages covering plant availabilities, transmission constraints, fuel assumptions and more.
Advanced Modeling of Flows
Model built replicating the physical dynamics and capacity mechanisms of the European Power market (FBMC).
Powerful Simulation Engine
PLEXOS® engine used by 40% of European TSOs and over 700 companies worldwide. This means price forecasts reflect underlying market fundamentals, not just past outcomes.
Traditionally, accessing this type of model required specialist expertise, ongoing calibration, and significant internal resources. PLEXOS® Pulse removes that barrier. Subscribers gain the benefit of a daily calibrated fundamental model without building or maintaining one. With PLEXOS® Pulse, there’s no in-house modeling team, infrastructure or continuous model management required. Just a robust short-term model, delivered in a format that integrates directly into daily trading workflows.
PLEXOS® Pulse is currently available for Great Britain (GB) and German (DE) power markets.
